Our buildings are named after true heroes of Fort Benjamin Harrison.
The Davis Building
Sergeant Davis was awarded our nation's highest honor, the Medal of Honor, for gallantry in service in the Republic of Vietnam on November 18, 1967. Sergeant Davis, with a complete disregard for his own personal safety and though severely wounded, repelled an attack by the Viet Cong and single handedly rescued three of his comrades. Even after he had rescued his fellow soldiers, Sergeant Davis refused medical attention and joined another unit in repelling yet another attack by the Viet Cong. Sergeant Davis was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions well beyond the call of duty. He continues to reside in Indianapolis and volunteers his time to help many Hoosier organizations.
The Brooks Building
Major General Brooks served as the last commanding general of Fort Benjamin Harrison. General Brooks served his country as an Army Officer for over 30 years including a combat tour in Vietnam. His last assignment, that he held for over five years, saw his stewardship as the key factor in the orderly transfer of Fort Benjamin Harrison to the Fort Harrison Reuse Authority. His leadership and tenacity resulted in the Fort Harrison closure being recognized and studied around the country as the "Model Base Closure" for the Department of Defense.
